  16 октября 2015

10 October 2015. Far East Federal University hosted events of the 5th All-Russian Science Festival.

The large-scale festival was held at FEFU to popularize Russian science. The estimated number of visitors was 4, 500. They were coming not just from the mainland part of the city of Vladivostok but from the other cities and municipalities of the region as well, and their age ranged from 5 to 80. Notably, most of younger guests were senior high school students, many of whom will have to choose a University to enter as early as in 2016.

The opening ceremony took place in the biggest 918-seat auditorium of the FEFU Main Academic Building. Mr. Alexey V. Tskhe, FEFU Vice-President for Research & Innovation, welcomed participants and guests, and declared the Festival officially open. Students from various FEFU amateur talent groups gave a vibrant concert. The audience gasped, cheered and applauded seeing the young performers’ singing, dancing, acting and juggling skills.

Then there were many dozens of events taking place all over the FEFU campus. Those included lectures by prominent Visiting Professors, exhibitions, workshops, excursions, interactive games, etc. They were prepared by all the 9 FEFU Schools including the School of Education. Some staff members, professors and students of the Ed School were present either as participants or guests.

Comments Maia Djuricic, a graduate of Belgrade University (Serbia), M.Ed. student of Cultural Diversity in Education, FEFU School of Education (Ussuriysk), «The Science Festival is a diverse and vibrant festival where community gathers from different sciences to share and learn from each other. It is a festival for community to demonstrate their domain of expertise and knowledge. Attending the Science Festival on Russkiy Island, Vladivostok was a really memorable experience due to friendly and comfortable environment where I enjoyed a lot. It was my first time to be at the FEFU campus and I can say that I am amazed with the campus and all the facilities. The festival was well-organized with different kind of interesting exhibitions and workshops. I attended one workshop organized for kids of all the age groups and helped them with drawing and painting. As well, I had an opportunity to go through the campus and see how is life style into the campus and how do students deal with their daily activities. Definitely, FEFU has a lot to offer to international students. I would like to thank to the administration of the FEFU School of Education (Ussuriysk) for giving me an opportunity to visit the FEFU main campus on Russkiy Island and take a part in the Festival. I am looking forward to attend some more festivals soon».
